Does Your Garden Grow: Making a Colonial Simple
(Grades 3-5)
Examine colonial medical practices. Students will explore Avoca's herb garden and make a colonial medicine. Available in season.
Quaker Stations and the Underground Railroad
(Grades 5-8)
Explore the routes of escaping slaves with particular attention paid to safe houses and helpful people along the way, especially the Quakers.
A Family Legacy: Civil War/ Colonial Graveyard Exploration
(Grades 3-6)
Learn about the symbolism and meaning of gravestones. Students visit the family cemetery at Avoca and enjoy math and science related activities.
